Hearts have told Lee Johnson and Chris Hackett that they are no longer required.
Hearts caretaker coach Valdas Ivanauskas has told January signings Lee Johnson and Chris Hackett that they are free to find another club.
The two midfielders were plucked from the English lower divisions in January under previous boss Graham Rix, and following his departure in March both players have been marginalised in Edinburgh.
Hackett signed from Oxford United and Johnson joined from Yeovil Town, but both will be free to pursue other avenues after learning they have no future at Tynecastle.
Ivanauskas is still to discover whether he will be required by Vladimir Romanov next season, but the coach confirmed that both Johnson and Hackett will be leaving.
"Lee has done well, but we must find a solution to his situation," Ivanauskas told The Evening News.
"We have so many players, so for him it be would be better to find a new club.
"In his [Hackett's] position, on the right side, we have many players so I think it would be better for him to look elsewhere too."
