Hearts goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald has signed a new two-year deal with the club.
The 20-year-old has yet to start a competitive match for The Jambos but has been tipped for stardom by number one Craig Gordon and goalkeeping coach Jim Stewart.
MacDonald was delighted to extend his Tynecastle stay until the summer of 2008, but revealed that he was looking to go out on loan next season to gain some valuable experience.
"I am very pleased about it," he told the club's official website. "The way the club is and the way they can buy players it is good that they are still giving youth players a chance.
"Craig (Gordon) went out to Cowdenbeath and came back stronger.
"Hopefully that will be the next stepping stone and allow me to get some first team experience."
MacDonald is confident that he has the ability to make a mark on the game, but admitted that he still had to improve in certain areas.
"I'd say I am a decent shot-stopper and good with one-to-ones," he said.
"But I need to be nmore vocal, especially if you are going to get into the first team."
