Oxford United have agreed a fee of £20,000 with Scottish Premier League side Hearts for winger Chris Hackett.

The 22-year-old has travelled north to have a medical with the Edinburgh outfit, with Hackett previously linked with a move to Hearts' city rivals Hibernian.

Hackett, however, has opted to join former U's boss Graham Rix and the Vladimir Romanov revolution at Tynecastle.

In return, Oxford have announced that they have had a bid of £120,000 accepted for an as-yet named player.

Meanwhile, The Jambos look to without one of their other January signings after Rix revealed a medial knee ligament injury to Neil McCann.

The winger is facing a lengthy period on the sidelines after coming off the worse in a challenge with Kilmarnock's David Lilley during his Hearts' debut last weekend.

"Neil went for his scan, and I think he is going to be out for a few weeks, which is a blow," Rix told Hearts' official website.

"He has stretched his medial ligament, which is the ligament on the inside of your knee.

"Fortunately, there is good blood supply there so it can heal quickly, but we will know better over the next few days exactly how long it will take."
