Honours finished even at Easter Road in the Edinburgh derby between Hibernian and Hearts.

The 1-1 draw means both sides are still level with one win a piece each this term, but Hearts retain bragging rights for the time being as they remain third in The SPL, although Hibs will attempt to claim some silverware in the forthcoming CIS Cup Final.

Garry O'Connor set up Derek Riordan to score right-footed for his eighth goal of the season midway through the first half and give Hibs the lead.

The home side took their lead into the break but two minutes after the restart, Hearts drew level.

Scotland international defender Steven Pressley converted from the penalty spot after Colin Murdock fouled Mark de Vries, hitting low to Daniel Andersson's left.

As you would expect from a derby match, the game was played with passion and five players entered referee Michael McCurry's note book, with Scott Brown, Jarkko Wiss and Murdock from Hibs, while Patrick Kisnorbo and Paul Hartley entered for Hearts.

Both sides went searching for the all-important winner to send their fans home happy, but in the end both teams had to settle for a point in their third tussle of the season.
