Hearts have been hit by the news that Steven Pressley will not play in their Uefa Cup tie against Bordeaux.
The defender was already struggling with a groin injury and also lost two teeth in Scotland's match with the Netherlands.
However, the former Ranger man was forced off at half time in the Edinburgh derby with a thigh strain and will not take any part in the game on Thursday.
"The number of games have caught up with him," explained Hearts boss Craig Levein.
"He is such an important player that I can't leave him out of games, but he will certainly be out of Thursday's match whatever happens."
The Scottish side may also be without defender Alan Maybury who is troubled by a thigh injury.
The injury news will disappoint Levien after his side had enjoyed a win over local rival Hibernian.
"The players were magnificent for us, it was a very important win," stated the Hearts chief.
