Davis: Luck was on our side

Steve Davis admitted his team may have been fortunate to emerge with all three points after Crewe beat Burton 3-2 in a topsy-turvy encounter.

Luke Murphy's strike proved to be the difference as the Railwaymen saw off a spirited Albion fightback at Gresty Road. Goals either side of the break from Danny Shelley and Ashley Westwood put Crewe in the driving seat before Callum Driver pulled one back for the visitors. Murphy put Crewe two up again before Calvin Zola netted in injury time for Albion. "We never controlled the game, had to work hard to get the result and they (Burton) always looked like they might nick something," Davis said. "I can't complain with three goals scored at home, I'm just disappointed with some of our defending. But to be honest, I don't care if we win 3-2 or 6-5 as long as we get the three points. "It's a great win for us considering we had to put out an under-strength team and had such a young bench so I am very happy."
