Fraser Fyvie: Clubs required to make 'substantial offer' to prise youngster away

Aberdeen manager Craig Brown has warned clubs they must fork out £5million if they wish to prise wonderkid Fraser Fyvie away from Pitodrie.

The midfielder turned down an offer of a new contract at the club and, although the Dons are desperate to hold onto Scotland's youth captain, it's likely the SPL side will now allow the player leave during the summer.

It is understood the 18-year-old is keen on developing his career in England and Aberdeen rejected two bids from Championship clubs during the winter transfer window.

And after Fyvie refused to pen a new deal, the club have been left no option but to sell him, although they will consider only 'sensible offers' for the player.

Substantial

Brown told the Daily Record: "Fraser hasn't signed the new contract that was offered to him but he is still our player.

"If anyone wants to take him away before his deal ends in December they would need to make us a substantial offer.

"If someone came in and made a bid of £5m then we would have to consider that but if we don't get any sensible offers we will hold on to Fraser into next season.

"We are still entitled to compensation if he leaves when he becomes a free agent."
