Pesch happy with Zola form

Manager Paul Peschisolido believes Calvin Zola's recent form has vindicated his decision to bring the striker to Burton.

Eyebrows were raised when Zola, who has a history of injury problems, was signed in January on loan from Crewe with a view to a permanent deal. However, the Congolese striker has made the doubters eat their words with a series of consistent performances this season and he scored his eighth goal of the season to salvage a point for Albion against relegation strugglers Dagenham at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday. "I think a lot of people questioned the wisdom of bringing Calvin to the club because he has had a few injuries over the years. He was even out of our side a couple of times during the time he was on loan to us, which possibly added fuel to the fire," Peschisolido told the Burton Mail. "But I was always quietly confident that once we got Calvin in for a full pre-season we would have a player on our hands. "It is fantastic that things have worked out as well as they have because Calvin has only missed a couple of games through a minor strain this season and we have got a player who is the envy of a lot of clubs. "Calvin is on a great little run at the moment and I'm really pleased that he has got himself a few goals. But that is not an issue for me because it is his all-round game that is so important."
