Aberdeen boss Craig Brown is weighing up a move to bring Russell Anderson back to Pittodrie.

But deal depends on players leaving Pittodrie first

Aberdeen boss Craig Brown is weighing up a move to bring Russell Anderson back to Pittodrie. Anderson is looking for a new club after being released by Derby six months before the end of his contract. Injuries have plagued Anderson's career since he left Aberdeen for Sunderland in 2007 and he is currently recovering from a hamstring problem he picked up in his last game for Derby against Cardiff last month Brown is a big admirer of former Dons captain Anderson and would be interested in signing the 33-year-old, but concedes players will have to leave before any move for Anderson can happen. "I know him from way back and I have the highest regard for him as a person and a footballer. It would be a wonderful acquisition, if he's fit," admitted Brown. "We'd love to have him back on the staff here, but it would require someone buying one of our players or one of our players being attracted elsewhere. That might happen. "Our player budget has reached its limit - he knows that. "That reduces the immediate chance of him signing. For someone to come in, someone has to go out."
