Brown reveals winger is homesick and is set to return to England

Aberdeen manager Craig Brown is expecting Sone Aluko to leave the club in order to return to English football in the summer. Former Birmingham City winger Aluko has been offered a new contract to stay with the Dons after spending the best part of the last four years at Pittodrie. However, Aluko has rejected the extension after Brown revealed the 22-year-old is homesick and wants to move back to England. "There have been no offers for Sone, but if players are not willing to stay I will bring in strong replacements," said Brown in the Press and Journal.

"Sone was made a very good offer which we hoped would persuade him to remain here because he is very popular with our fans as he is the type of player who can entertain. "Unfortunately, it looks as if he could go at the end of the season. If he does we will be entitled to compensation. "He has been very honest and said he would like to return to England as homesickness is a factor. Money is not an issue as he would like to be back near to his home in Birmingham." Meanwhile, Brown is keen for Aluko's team-mates Chris Maguire and Jamie Langfield to make a swift decision on the contracts that have been offered. He added: "I want a decision from Maguire and Langfield as soon as possible. "There is no way I will wait until the summer to find out if they are staying. I need time to bring in replacements if they are leaving the club."
