Esson stays with Dons

Aberdeen goalkeeper Ryan Esson has signed a new two-year deal at Pittodrie.

Esson has taken a pay cut to stay with The Dons and he is determined to fight for his place next season with current number one David Preece.

"David and I are good mates, but if I didn't feel I could perform regularly in the first team, I would have moved on," said Esson.

"At this stage in my career, I need to be playing first team football and it's up to me to make it impossible for me not to be chosen.

"I've had my share of injury problems over the past couple of seasons, but I'm now 100 percent fit and raring to go."
