ABERDEEN are expecting stiff competition from Dundee and Dundee United for the signature of Falkirk striker Lee Miller.

The Dons have put in a bid of £100,000 for the 20-year-old, but that is way short of Falkirk's valuation of £500,000 for the player.

With both Dundee clubs expected to table bids in the near future, a three-way auction for Miller's services will see him leave Brockville for more than Aberdeen's initial bid but probably less than The Bairns' valuation.

Dons boss Steve Paterson (pictured) has made it clear that he is keen for Miller to join the club and Pittodrie general manager David Johnston is backing his manager to land his transfer targets.

He said: "We have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure we are ready to move for the players the manager wants.

"He has taken stock of what has been happening when on holiday and we can now move things further on.

"Around 1,000 players, who have either been freed or told they can leave their clubs, are out there - which offers tremendous scope.

"I am certain that the manager's signing plans will gain momentum next week."
