ROTHERHAM have moved to bolster their goalkeeping options by signing Aberdeen shot-stopper Ryan Esson on loan until the end of the season.

Millers boss Ronnie Moore (pictured) has been looking for goalkeeping cover for first choice Mike Pollitt with reserve Ian Gray set to undergo an operation for a hernia problem which is set to sideline him for a month.

Esson has fallen out-of-favour at Pittodrie with Peter Kjaer firmly established as the club's number one.

The 22-year-old last played for The Dons at the start of January and he is delighted to get the chance of possibly getting first team football at Millmoor.

"I can't wait to get stuck in! It's hard to get a game here at the moment with Peter Kjaer playing so well and with David Preece also waiting in the wings," Esson told the club's official website.

"A spell on loan will allow me to keep up my match fitness, I am looking forward to it.'
