Former Swindon goalkeeper Wes Foderingham has signed a three-year contract with Scottish Championship side Rangers.

The 24-year-old, who left the County Ground when his contract expired last month, moves on a Bosman free transfer with the option of extending the deal for a further year.

Foderingham, who had options at other clubs in England, decided to head north following discussions with new Rangers manager Mark Warburton.

He will now provide competition for Cammy Bell for the No 1 spot after fellow keepers Steve Simonsen and Lee Robinson were among 11 players released at the end of last season.

"It's been a difficult period for Rangers in recent years but hopefully they have seen the end of that now and we can bring the good times back to this club," he said.

"Mark has said he has a three-year plan to get out of the Championship and challenge in the Premiership and obviously get into the Champions League and that suits me down to the ground.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for me to try to get into Europe and hopefully we can get there within the three years."

Warburton has already made four additions to the 14 players who remained at Ibrox last season. Danny Wilson has returned to the club from Hearts while fellow central defender Rob Kiernan has signed from Wigan.

The former Brentford manager has also brought in teenage duo Jordan Gibson and Tom Lang on free transfers as he continues to build his squad swiftly ahead of the new season.

And Warburton looks set to further strengthen his squad after Rangers' website revealed former Derby midfielder John Eustace will begin training with the club at their Murray Park complex next week.

Eustace has been in discussions with Warburton for some time over a move and the pair have now agreed to work together 'over a three to four-week period' which will allow both sides to make 'further and proper assessments'.

This extra time will also allow Rangers' medical and coaching staff to monitor the 35-year-old fitness levels.
