Scottish football: Rangers striker Jon Daly out of Highland tour due to a knee injury

Rangers striker Jon Daly will miss the club's pre-season Highland tour after being sent for a scan on his injured knee.

Manager Ally McCoist insists the move is more of a precaution after the Irishman struggled with the problem towards the end of last season.

Rangers, who are bidding for a third successive promotion after winning Leagues Two and One at a canter, will face Buckie Thistle on Thursday before taking on Brora Rangers this Sunday.

McCoist, who will face tough opposition in the Championship next season with Hibs, Hearts and Falkirk lying in wait, told the club's official website: "Jon has been feeling his knee over a couple of days in training and he felt it towards the end of last season as well.

"He is going for a scan and once we get the results from that we'll be in a better position and place to give more information.

"Our view last season was the problem was fatigue more than anything and that the rest would let him come back fresh and raring to go again.

"That was certainly the case at the start of pre-season but after two or three days he could feel a niggle."
