Bilel Mohsni is among five Southend players to have been shown the door by Shrimpers manager Phil Brown.
Mickey Spillane, John Spicer, Alex Woodyard and Elliot Benyon will also be leaving the League Two club after their contracts were allowed to expire. Mohsni had his deal terminated earlier this month after a chequered career at Roots Hall, which featured four red cards and criticism from chairman Ron Martin for twice leaving games by train rather than travelling with his team-mates.
