Scottish Football League expects positive welcome

The Scottish Football League is confident Rangers will be well received in the third division as they prepare to enter the first round of the League Cup for the first time in 34 years. Following their demotion from the SPL, the new version of the Ibrox club will be in Friday's draw and will be unseeded for their tie, which is due to take place on 4th August. Rangers' presence has guaranteed greater interest in the Scottish League Cup and the Football League is confident the focus on Ally McCoist's side will be positive. Scottish Football League chief executive David Longmuir told Sky Sports News: "I think you will find that Rangers will be well received in the Scottish Football League." Earlier on Thursday, Rangers suffered a latest blow following the news that Kane Hemmings' knee injury could rule him out until 2013.
