Midfielder flattered by interest, but also keen on move to England

Former Hearts midfielder Ian Black would welcome a move to Rangers if their transfer embargo is lifted, but admits he is keeping his options open. The 27-year-old is available as a free agent after seeing his contract at Tynecastle expire at the end of last season. He is now being linked with a switch to Ibrox, with Gers boss Ally McCoist reported to be keen on adding Black to his ranks. Rangers are, however, still waiting to discover whether they will be allowed to bring fresh faces into the club, with a 12-month transfer embargo still hanging over the Old Firm giants. Black admits to being flattered by McCoist's interest, and would be willing to discuss a deal, but he is also open to the prospect of securing a move to England. He told the Daily Record: "It's flattering to be linked with Rangers, I'm not sure what's happening with the rules and if they're allowed to sign players or not. "It's flattering and if they are allowed to sign players and they're keen, I would love to sit down and listen to what they have to say.

Waiting game

"I'm still waiting for a concrete offer. I've not had any interest yet. "It's just a waiting game but hopefully somebody will offer me something. "I would like to play in England but staying in Scotland is still an option. I would not rule anything out. I'll just sit tight and hopefully I'll have two or three options that I can weigh up and choose from. "My agent is working away behind the scenes doing his best." Black recently underwent a double hernia operation, but he claims the surgery was a success and is hoping to be running again within three weeks. He added: "Everything went well with the operation. I'm still a wee bit sore. Hopefully I will be back running in two to three weeks. "I'd rather get things sorted out quickly, I've got a family so I'd rather know where we're going to be living."
