Simonsen hails Blades defence

Sheffield United goalkeeper Steve Simonsen has attributed his impressive recent form to the hard work of his team-mates in front of him.

Former Everton and Stoke keeper Simonsen, 32, in his second full season at Bramall Lane, has helped the Blades keep clean sheets in two of their last four games in which they have conceded only two goals. Teenage keeper George Long was given a run of first-team games in October, but Simonsen has since re-established himself as the club's number one. Simonsen said: "It's all down to the lads in front of me. To be honest I've not had an awful lot to do. "What I've had to do I've managed to do it, but I've not been over-worked and that's all credit to the lads in front of me, the back four, the midfield and also the lads up front because we defend from the front. "That's where defence starts for us and we've done it really well, we've kept teams out."
