Edu focused amid speculation

The United States ace is wanted by the Ligue 1 side but Rangers boss Ally McCoist last week claimed the offer was nowhere near the Scottish champions' valuation of the player.

McCoist has reiterated his desire to keep Edu at Ibrox and the player insists he is just focusing on his game after helping his side to a 4-0 Scottish Cup win at Arbroath on Sunday.

He said: "I am enjoying myself and I am enjoying winning and I am enjoying playing.

"Right now my focus is just on playing week in, week out and continuing to get wins for the club."

McCoist also revealed he wanted to see Edu commit himself to a new deal, rather than sanction his departure.

Edu told the Daily Record: "I'll leave that to my representative. I am enjoying my football right now and I still have 18 months to go so I will leave that to my representatives to discuss with the club and I'll just keep on playing and enjoying myself here.

"I knew about the interest the interest from Sochaux but as I said I will leave it up to them to take care of and I'll just keep focused on playing.

"My agent was over but he is not here now."

Edu added he is pleased Rangers would like him to sign a new deal, saying: "It's always encouraging to hear that the staff are pleased with the way you have been playing and the things you have done for the club.

"It's encouraging and it makes you want to work that little bit harder and continue to keep progressing and add a little bit to the team."

Edu suffered a dip in form last season but feels he is back on top form this term.

He said: "I'm happy with the way things are going and hopefully I can chip in with a few goals in the coming weeks. I'm pretty pleased with the way things have been going."
