Premier League club make move for Croatia international

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has confirmed Queens Park Rangers have made a bid for Croatia international Nikica Jelavic. The offer is understood to have been tabled prior to Wednesday's Old Firm defeat to Celtic at Parkhead, which was settled by Joe Ledley's second-half winner. Jelavic, who is Gers' leading scorer with 12 league goals, is being tipped to leave Ibrox in the New Year as the SPL club seek to balance the books. QPR's Premier League rivals West Brom have also been strongly linked with the striker, who McCoist is against losing as the club go in search of a fourth successive SPL title. "Somebody at the club mentioned it to me, which was all I needed, to be frank," confirmed McCoist on QPR's Jelavic bid. He added: "What will happen, will happen."
