The Scottish Football Association has confirmed that captain Barry Ferguson and goalkeeper Allan McGregor have been dropped from the Scotland team to face Iceland because of a breach of discipline.
The Rangers duo are reported to have broken squad rules over the weekend following Scotland's 3-0 defeat to Holland in Amsterdam.
The party flew back to their Loch Lomond training base on Saturday ahead of the clash with Iceland on Wednesday.
But both Ferguson and McGregor have been axed following an alleged drinking session.
"We can confirm that there has been a breach of team discipline," an SFA spokesman stated.
"This has been dealt with within the squad."
However, both players have remained with the party and could still be on the bench for the game at Hampden Park after they apologised to the rest of the squad.
