Rangers boss Paul Le Guen is being urged to strengthen his team when the transfer window opens in January.

The surprise defeat to Falkirk means The Gers are now 16 points behind Celtic and calls are growing for the Frenchman to bolster his squad.

Le Guen has been linked with Hibernian duo Scott Brown and Kevin Thomson and Brown's request to be placed on the transfer list at the weekend could pave the way for a move to Ibrox.

Saturday's game at home to Hibs will provide Le Guen with another opportunity to have a look at the pair, but he is remaining tight-lipped about a potential swoop.

"I think they are good players and I am not alone in thinking that," Le Guen told Rangers World.

Le Guen admits his side must bounce from the Falkirk setback against John Collins' side.

"All was not bad in that game but we need to have a better game - we have to be more efficient," he added.

"We need to have a good recovery and be ready to fight. It's an important game for the club."

Steven Smith could reclaim the left-back role from Sasa Papac, while star striker Kris Boyd has been ruled out for the rest of the year with an ankle injury.
