Rangers aim to have a trio of players back by the time they face Livorno in the Uefa Cup.

Lee Martin, Steven Smith and Lionel Letizi have all made good progress from injuries this week.

Smith and Letizi could return to the Rangers side for Saturday's SPL game with Inverness Caledonian Thistle, while Martin should return for the Uefa Cup tie.

Martin's knee injury had been causing Gers some concern and he returned to parent club Manchester United to have the problem assessed.

But the winger has been given an upbeat verdict and he is expected to be available for the meeting with Livorno.

Young full back Smith has recovered from a thigh injury, while veteran goalkeeper Letizi has declared he wants Allan McGregor's spot after finally shaking off a calf complaint.

"I'm ready to play against Inverness on Saturday," Letizi told the club's official website.

"Everything is okay now and I hope to play.

"The injury is finished with. It has been frustrating to be out of action for two months because every footballer wants to play.

"But sometimes you get injuries and you have to deal with it."
