Dunfermline are waiting to see if Rangers are willing to sell them Allan McGregor.
McGregor spent last season on loan at Dunfermline and impressed during his stint at East End Park.
The Scottish Under-21 international is set to meet new Rangers boss Paul Le Guen to discuss his future and if he is allowed to leave Dunfermline are first in the queue to sign him.
Pars chairman John Yorkston admitted the club are waiting for the green light from Rangers before making their move for McGregor.
"We're playing a waiting game as far as Allan is concerned because we don't know the thoughts of their new manager," said Yorkston.
"If they decide they no longer want him we'd be delighted to take him back here.
"But we can't talk to Rangers until Allan has met his new manager who may want to keep him. If that's the case so be it."
