Motherwell have completed the permanent signing of defender Brian McLean from Scottish Premier League rivals Rangers.

The 21-year-old has been on loan with Terry Butcher's side this season, as he looked to earn valuable first-team experience at Fir Park.

Rangers have now agreed an undisclosed fee with The Well for the youngster and McLean has signed a contract until the summer of 2009.

"I am absolutely delighted that everything has been sorted out," McLean told Motherwell's official website.

"I can now look forward to playing for Motherwell on a permanent basis."

The permanent arrival of McLean was followed by the news that Colin Meldrum, Phil O'Donnell and Dougie Calder have penned contract extensions with The Well.

O'Donnell and Calder have signed a one-year extensions, while Meldrum has concurred on a two-year contract extension.
