Hibernian midfielder Kevin Thomson insists he is in no rush to leave Easter Road.

The Scotland Under-21 international has been linked with a possible move to Rangers with Alex McLeish believed to be trailing Thomson.

Thomson has brushed off the speculation and insists he is happy to stay in Edinburgh.

"Any young boy likes to see their name in the paper and it's nice to see big clubs linked with you because it means you are doing well," Thomson told the Edinburgh Evening News.

"But we are playing regular football and that is not something you can guarantee if you move on somewhere else.

"I'm happy playing with Hibs and if other guys stay, and we continue to develop in the way we have done over the past couple of years, then who knows where we can go from here.

"We are still a young team with a lot of exciting boys at the club so fingers crossed everyone stays together and we can keep improving.

"It would be a shame if it was to be broken up before we reached the level I'm sure we can do."
