Ross McCormack was Rangers' hero after coming off the bench to salvage a point with a dramatic late equaliser at Porto.
The young striker could have saved Alex McLeish's job as his goal gives the Ibrox outfit a great chance of qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition.
Even if The Gers do not beat Internazionale in the final group game, they could still qualify if the result elsewhere goes their way.
"Just to get my debut was brilliant," he told Sky Sports News. "When Chris [Burke] headed the ball across, there was a thousand things going through my head.
"I just had to keep it down and, thankfully, it went in.
"I practice it every day so it's kind of natural [finishing in those situations].
"If I don't think like that [adding something to the side], then there's something wrong. Always when I'm on the bench, I think I can go on and offer the team something and, thankfully, I've got the goal.
"Well, he [McLeish] brought the two of us on and it paid dividends for him. I hope it continues."
Skipper Barry Ferguson admitted the match had not been much of a spectacle.
"It was always going to be a difficult game," he stated. "The way we set out was just to frustrate them.
"There was not a lot of football played but it was a great workmanlike performance. We frustrated them and they are a very good football team.
"To come away with a draw was a great result for us. It's been a difficult time for the boss, like it has for the rest of us, as the performances and the results have not been great.
"But you've seen the work-rate tonight and the effort was magnificent."
