Prso brace downs Dons

Dado Prso's double earned Rangers a 3-1 win at Aberdeen to turn up the heat on Celtic.

Dado Prso's double earned Rangers a 3-1 win at Aberdeen to turn the title heat up on Old Firm rivals Celtic.

With Celtic surprisingly having lost 3-1 at home to Hibernian on Saturday, The Gers took full advantage to close the gap at the summit to two points after their success at Pittodrie.

Scott Severin whipped in an early free kick which whistled just wide before the visitors took the lead on 10 minutes.

Rangers broke sharply with Marvin Andrews heading clear to Prso, who supplied Barry Ferguson with the chance to apply a cool finish.

Dons keeper Ryan Esson twice thwarted Prso before tipping over a Ferguson free kick, while Thomas Buffel saw his acrobatic effort sail over the bar.

The visitors had been in the ascendancy before they were pegged back on 32 minutes when Chris Clark lashed home from 20 yards.

But Rangers were back in front two minutes before the break when Prso produced a clever back-heel to convert Nacho Novo's cross.

The third goal arrived just before the hour mark as Prso showed predatory instincts to score after Andrews had headed on Fernando Ricksen's corner.

There was a sour note to the match later in the half when a missile was thrown towards Ricksen as the Dutchman prepared to take a corner.

Rangers could have extended their lead further before the close of the match but Shota Arveladze was denied by Esson and Ferguson struck the post in injury time.
