Rangers winger Peter Lovenkrands is hoping to be given a rest after this weekend's Old Firm derby with Celtic.

The flying winger is struggling with a knee problem and he is keen to go easy on his injury so that he is fit for Euro 2004.

"I am expecting to get some rest after the Celtic clash, but I am hoping that it will only be for one week," Lovenkrands told Rtizau.

Lovenkrands was left out of Denmark's squad for next week's friendly with Spain after coming to an agreement with coach Morten Olsen.

"I have talked to Morten Olsen and we are in full agreement that I shall only play for the national team when I am 100 percent fit." added Lovenkrands.
