Dundee United have lost their appeal against the dismissal of Ryan McGowan against Celtic earlier this month.
The former Hearts defender was red-carded towards the end of the Scottish Cup quarter-final replay at Parkhead for a tackle on Hoops substitute Liam Henderson.
United had contested referee Calum Murray's decision, allowing the Australian to play in the fourth and final match between the sides last weekend, which Celtic won 3-0.
He will now sit out the Scottish Premiership game against Ross County at Tannadice on Saturday week and United's first Scottish Cup tie next season.
Celtic won the hotly-contested tie - which also saw the dismissal of Republic of Ireland striker Anthony Stokes - 4-0 to set up a semi-final meeting with Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Hampden next month.
