Transfer News: Celtic boss Ronny Deila dismisses Modou Barrow link

Celtic manager Ronny Deila has played down reports that he is looking to bring Gambian striker Modou Barrow to Parkhead.

Deila is in the market for attacking reinforcements and he has been linked with an approach for Barrow, along with Mexican winger Javier Aquino.

Barrow plays for Ostersunds FK and the Swedish club’s president Daniel Kindberg had claimed that Celtic, along with Middlesbrough and Swansea City, are interested.

Everton, Hull City and Queens Park Rangers were also reported to be ready to watch the 21-year-old, who recently took in a trial at Bolton Wanderers.

However, Deila is unaware of the speculation surrounding Barrow, who is reportedly valued at £1.5million by Ostersunds.

“That is interesting,” Deila is quoted in the Sunday Mail as saying following Celtic’s 1-1 draw with Dynamo Dresden on Saturday. “I have not heard that name.

“We are working in different places and we will see what happens but there is nothing serious.

“I don’t comment on names but we are looking to get people into forward positions. We are hoping to get new energy into the squad.”
