Hughton cools Vaughan reports

Chris Hughton says there is 'nothing' in reports that Norwich City striker James Vaughan is set to join Celtic on a season-long loan.

Reported Celtic target part of Norwich's plans for this season

Chris Hughton says there is 'nothing' in reports that Norwich City striker James Vaughan is set to join Celtic on a season-long loan. Vaughan only joined the Canaries last summer from Everton, but he was restricted to just five Premier League appearances after suffering a serious knee injury last September. He has been linked with a move to several Championship clubs, while speculation has also claimed that SPL champions Celtic want to sign the 24-year-old on loan. However, Norwich boss Hughton has heard nothing from the Bhoys and insists Vaughan is currently part of his plans for the coming season.

Pushing

"There is nothing in that. That is news to me," said Hughton in the Eastern Daily Press. "What will always happen is that names are going to be mentioned, in or out. What I have to do is formulate the squad I want come the start of the season, the end of the month. "James has done well in the period of time that he has been with us since the start of pre-season. "James comes into the same category as everybody else. He is pushing for a place like the rest of the lads. "At this moment I have got five forwards that are all pushing for places and want to be part of the plans and they are decisions I need to make over this pre-season period."
