Alan Pardew is expecting Fraser Forster to report back for pre-season training at Newcastle United, with the keeper yet to secure a switch elsewhere.
The highly-rated shot-stopper has been deemed surplus to requirements by the Magpies in recent years.
He spent the 2009/10 campaign with Norwich City, and the last two seasons with SPL giants Celtic.
The Hoops are known to be keen on doing a deal, but nothing has been agreed with Newcastle.
Fee
West Ham United and Southampton are also reported to be weighing up an approach, but they too have yet to make a move.
As a result, Forster is due back at St James' Park, with Pardew reluctant to speculate on what his short-term future may hold.
He told the Evening Chronicle: "At the moment he is coming back to us.
"He will be with us until he finds a club and we find a fee that works for us."
