Celtic have confirmed defender Emilio Izaguirre will be out of action for between four to six months after suffering a fractured ankle during Sunday's clash at Aberdeen.
The Honduran left-back sustained the injury during the first half of the Hoops' 1-0 Scottish Premier League win at Pittodrie.
He was carried off on a stretcher after going down in agony following what looked like a fair sliding challenge from Peter Pawlett.
The Parkhead club have announced 25-year-old Izaguirre will undergo an operation on his ankle this week.
"Following an investigation in hospital, the club can confirm that Emilio has a fracture to his right ankle which will require surgery," said a statement on Celtic's official website.
"This will be carried out later this week and Emilio will be out of action for between four to six months.
"The thoughts of the Celtic family are with Emilio and everyone wishes him a speedy recovery from injury."
