Berra, Mouyokolo and Zubar all return to training

Wolves were handed a significant defensive boost on Thursday when Christophe Berra, Steven Mouyokolo and Ronald Zubar all returned to training. Mick McCarthy's team occupy a place in the Premier League relegation zone and are five points from safety ahead of Saturday's trip to Blackpool and so the positive news will be welcomed. Defenders Berra and Mouyokolo have both had scans on knee injuries which revealed no serious damage and they will make the trip to Bloomfield Road. Zubar, though, will not be involved as he was only just returned to his first session, while Jody Craddock has not yet resumed first-team training. "They're both OK, they both trained today," McCarthy told Wolves' official website of Berra and Mouyokolo.

Options

"It's a boost, especially with Berra, because he's been first-choice, so I'm delighted to have them fit. I prefer having options, that's for sure." He added: "Ronald Zubar trained for the first time today, but he has no chance for Saturday. "Jody Craddock hasn't started training again with us again yet, but he's been out kicking balls. "He felt it at the end of last week, so he's stepping back on things a little bit. I'd think he'll be training next week." Wolves will still be without Dave Edwards for three weeks as he continues his return from injury.
Sooner the better
"Dave's got a tear in his thigh so he was always going to be about three weeks which was a real blow because he'd just got going and played very well and got the winner against Manchester City," said McCarthy. Meanwhile, McCarthy is not labelling the meeting with Blackpool as 'must-win', but he is aware of the importance. "If we didn't win and then won seven on the bounce . . . we are not likely to but who knows? I never get to that stage," he told the Birmingham Mail. "In terms of league position it is getting there when you look at the gap already. I've said before we need to get three points from somewhere and the sooner the better."
