SPL round-up

A second half goal by sub Maciej Zurawski gave Celtic a 1-0 win over Aberdeen.

A second-half goal by Celtic substitute Maciej Zurawski against Aberdeen extended the Hoops' lead at the top of the Bank of Scotland Premier League to 16 points.

The champions had turned in a turgid performance until the Pole replaced Thomas Gravesen in the 67th minute as Gordon Strachan tried to rally his troops.

And five minutes later, the substitution proved inspirational as Zurawski picked up a Lee Naylor cross 12 yards out before, slotting the ball past Aberdeen keeper Jamie Langfield.

But with a minute remaining Celtic keeper Artur Boruc became the hero for the home side when he brilliantly saved a point-blank header from Russell Anderson.

A Hearts side missing Steven Pressley fought back for a 2-2 draw in a pulsating match at St Mirren which stretched their run without a win to nine games.

Saulius Mikoliunas gave Hearts head coach Valdas Ivanauskas the perfect welcome back to the dug-out with a first-minute goal.

But recalled Saints striker Stewart Kean turned the game inside the first quarter with two goals in three minutes.

Marius Zaliukas headed Hearts level just after the break and the game was perfectly poised until Hearts skipper Paul Hartley was sent off after receiving two of the game's eight yellow cards.

Hibernian striker Steven Fletcher spared team-mate Shelton Martis' blushes as he made sure of all three points in a 2-1 win against Dundee United.

Dutchman Martis had given the visitors a 24th-minute lead after scoring a bizarre own goal but Rob Jones levelled seconds before the break.

And Fletcher completed the comeback in the 73rd minute with a well-executed strike from an angle inside the box.

A 90th-minute penalty from Richie Foran earned Motherwell a dramatic 1-0 victory at Inverness, in a game which looked certain to end in a stalemate.

Both sides struggled to create clear-cut chances in a tight match, although Barry Wilson should have opened the scoring for the Highlanders just before half-time.

Frustratingly for Caley, the midfielder could only shoot straight at Colin Meldrum in a miss which was to prove extremely costly as the Steelmen snatched the win.

Inverness defender Darren Dods brought down Scott McDonald inside the area to earn his second caution before Foran fired home from the spot.

Dunfermline were cast five points adrift at the bottom after suffering a 5-1 thrashing at Kilmarnock.

Gordon Greer grabbed an early opener - which was cancelled out by Stevie Crawford - before Paul Di Giacomo and Colin Nish helped themselves to a double each.

The Pars' misery was compounded when Souleymane Bamba was shown the red card with more than half-an-hour of the game remaining.
