Bhoys sweat over Beattie

Celtic are sweating over the fitness of Craig Beattie ahead of the new SPL season.

Celtic are sweating over the fitness of striker Craig Beattie after he picked up a hamstring strain.

The Scotland international sustained the injury on their USA tour, having limped out of Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Major League Soccer side New England Revolution in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

There are fears the leg injury may see him miss the start of the new Scottish Premier League season on July 29.

The SPL champions open their new campaign at home to Kilmarnock a week on Saturday.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Artur Boruc admits to loving every minute of Celtic's pre-season campaign.

The Poland World Cup custodian has had little time to think about his country's abrupt exit from Germany 2006, as The Bhoys embarked on a tour of his homeland and America this month.

Despite the amount of travelling that Gordon Strachan's side have done, the former Legia Warsaw keeper has enjoyed every moment of the last year of his career.

"I feel as though I've been spoiled a bit lately," Boruc told Daily Record.

"I'd just enjoyed one good present and then the next one came along.

"After my dream of playing for Legia Warsaw, I got a move to Celtic.

"After that I was called into the national team for the World Cup and I still won't have a chance to calm down because I have the excitement of playing in the Champions League."
