Celtic captain Neil Lennon is adamant Rudi Skacel spat at him on Sunday, despite the Hearts ace's protestations to the contrary.

The alleged incident took place during Hearts' comprehensive 3-0 win over the SPL champions at Tynecastle.

Lennon claims Skacel spat at him and told match referee Alan Freeland of his accusation.

Though Skacel has denied any wrongdoing, Bhoys midfielder Lennon has no intention of backing down in the feud.

"I am not in the business of making things up or trying to get people into trouble," said Lennon.

"But I know what happened and I'm adamant about that. I would not have reacted unless something did happen.

"The referee told me he did not see anything, so I will leave it at that, but it's important I set the record straight."

Hearts issued a statement to deny Lennon's accusations, with Skacel vehemently refuting any suggestion he spat at the Northern Irishman.

A Hearts spokesperson said: "Rudi strenuously denies any of the reported allegations made by Neil Lennon.

"The player is deeply offended and is furious at the associated implication of these remarks.

"Having played a key role in the comprehensive victory over Celtic, Rudi refuses to be distracted and is concentrating fully on the club's important game this Wednesday evening against Aberdeen."
