Robert Douglas is out of the Tennent's Scottish Cup final after undergoing surgery on Monday.

The Celtic keeper was hoping to feature in the showpiece event against Dunfermline Athletic, but will no longer take part.

Douglas has been struggling with a thigh strain recently and it is hoped the operation will remove some calcification in his muscle.

While the Scottish international will not play against The Pars, he is expected to be fit for The Bhoys' pre-season trip to North America.

Youngster David Marshall, who earned rave reviews for his Uefa Cup displays, is expected to deputise at Hampden Park.
