CELTIC got their pre-season preparations off to a winning start with an easy 7-0 over an amateur select XI in the first game of their Swedish tour.

The only surprise was that Swedish hero Henrik Larsson failed to get his name on the scoresheet as Celtic ran out comfortable winners over a side made up fourth division Kungshamn and fifth division Smogens.

Bhoys manager Martin O'Neill was not there to witness it however as he had remained in the UK to undergo a minor operation.

Goals from Stanislav Varga, Steve Guppy and Chris Sutton gave Celtic a 3-0 half-time lead.

As is normal in pre-season friendlies a number of substitutions were made at the break with Celtic introducing nine new faces.

The changes did not disrupt the visitors` flow with Stilian Petrov adding the fourth from the penalty spot with David Fernandez netting a double either side of a Ross Wallace strike to round off a good afternoon's work for the Scottish giants.
