Former Scotland international Lee McCulloch has joined Kilmarnock as an assistant player/coach.
The role will predominantly see McCulloch serve as a member of manager Gary Locke’s backroom staff but the former Wigan and Rangers player will keep himself fit in order to play if required.
Speaking of the appointment, Locke said: “I am really pleased to have secured Lee as an assistant player/coach.
“Lee is somebody I know well, he has all his coaching qualifications and I am confident he will contribute a lot to the club.”
McCulloch will work with both the first and developmental team and has already set the club a target of a top six finish.
“I am really looking forward to this new chapter in my career. Killie are a great provincial club and are committed to developing their youth players and that’s something I believe I can help with,” he said.
“I think it’s fair to say the club hasn’t reached its potential in the last few seasons but we have big aspirations for the future and I want to help the club get back to where it once was, for me that starts with a top six spot.”
