Morton striker Declan McManus says he is hugely honoured to be named PFA Scotland League One Player of the Year.
McManus, who is on loan at the Greenock club from Scottish Premiership runners-up Aberdeen, scored the third goal in his side's 3-1 victory over Peterhead on Saturday which secured promotion to the Championship.
Speaking at the awards ceremony at a Glasgow hotel on Sunday evening, he told Sky Sports News HQ: "It has been the best weekend of my life so far. To receive the award and the players to choose me, it’s a great honour. ”
“Saturday was definitely the most nervous I have ever been, but we got there in the end. Once we went 1-0 down I thought oh dear but as we have so many times this season, we came back from the dead and thankfully we managed to win the league.”
Asked if he had any regrets over his decision to leave Pittodrie for Cappielow, he added: "It’s been the best decision of my life to come out.
"Jim Duffy (Morton manager) has helped me massively and I can’t thank him enough. All the Morton boys have embraced me since I came in, helped me out and made me a better player.
"I spoke to Derek McInnes a couple of weeks ago but we decided we would speak after the last day of the season so I could concentrate on my football. That was the most important thing at the time. I’m not too bothered about worrying about it just now. I will speak to the gaffer of Tuesday and see from there.
I always believe in my own ability so I know that I can be good enough to play for Aberdeen. But with Adam Rooney in front of you it’s a hard job to try and get in ahead of him. He’s scored close to 30 goals so it’s a hard task but I will do my best."
