Ronny Deila praised stand-in captain Stefan Johansen after the midfielder scored in Celtic’s 2-0 win over Partick Thistle at Parkhead.

Johansen, who was named skipper because of Scott Brown’s suspension, netted in the first half after Kris Commons slotted in a penalty.

And Deila praised Johansen’s stamina and work rate.

The Bhoys boss said: "He's an important player, a good player. He's working hard and has good communication with his team-mates.

"He's had a good season but he's stepping up all the time. He's very fit and gets chances at the end of the game as he keeps going.

"Defensively we have conceded 14 goals and he is one of the causes of that as well as he works so hard for the team."

Meanwhile, Thistle manager Alan Archibald had no complaints with the penalty which led to James Craigen being sent off for bringing down Stuart Armstrong in the box.

He said: "I haven't watched it back yet but I thought it was a penalty at the time.

"It is one of those rules that hopefully they will change because they get penalised twice with the loss of the man and the goal.

"You always think you are going to get a touch on the ball with hindsight you would rather they just let him go through and let the keeper try to save it.

"But in the heat of the moment you always think you are going to get there so it is a hard one for James. It is hard even with 11 men but I was proud of the way they organised themselves, the shape was good with 10 men."
