Kilmarnock's return to Rugby Park buoys Gary Locke

Gary Locke is hoping the return to Rugby Park for the first time in a month can put Kilmarnock back on the victory trail.

The Ayrshire side have drawn five out of their last six Scottish Premiership matches with a home win over Dundee United amid that run leaving them in eighth place.

However, Killie's interim boss, who moved up from assistant when Allan Johnston departed in early February, noted that four of those stalemates have been away from home, including last week's 1-1 draw at Motherwell when defender Darryl Westlake was sent off after picking up a second yellow card.

Three of Kilmarnock's next four matches are on their artificial surface, starting with the visit of bottom side St Mirren on Saturday, and Locke believes that will make a difference.

"We have been away from home and if you ask any manager, if you pick up points away from home and win your home games you will not be a million miles away," he said.

"But our problem is we have not had a home game for so long. It felt we were playing really well with 11 players on the pitch last week and I would have fancied us to get three points.

"But once you go a down man you have to change your game plan. Considering the circumstances you are happy with the draw and I have been delighted. I couldn't be happier with the way the team is playing.

"They are doing really well at the moment and it is great to be back at Rugby Park this weekend and looking to get three points.

"St Mirren have picked up. Gary Teale has made a few good signings and they won last time out so they will be buoyed by that result. We know it will be a difficult game."
