Celtic have announced a deal with US sports kit manufacturer New Balance from the start of next season.

The Scottish champions have agreed a five-year sponsorship with the sports brand in potentially the biggest kit deal in Celtic’s history.

New Balance will supply the team kit, training wear and equipment from the 2015/16 season onwards. The Hoops have a strong connection to New Balance’s home town of Boston, where the club has a significant fanbase.

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell is delighted with the deal, which sees New Balance replace Nike as kit suppliers

Lawwell said: "New Balance is one of the world’s leading sportswear manufacturers and will cater for the huge global demand for Celtic kit. Importantly our cultures match well.

"While New Balance is relatively new to football, its sporting heritage dates back over 100 years and there is huge excitement around the brand and its ambitions globally.

"Our supporters are rightly proud of the similarly long and prestigious history of our club, and both Celtic and New Balance look forward to an exciting, long and rewarding future collaboration.

"Once again we are pleased to connect with a brand of such quality and stature and we are sure our supporters will warmly welcome New Balance to the Celtic family."

Richard Wright, general manager of New Balance Football, is thrilled his company will has an association with Celtic’s distinctive kit.

Wright said: “We are so excited to be working with Celtic Football Club. The famous green and white hoops are an iconic symbol in football and we can’t wait to collaborate with the club on future ranges of apparel.

"This deal with Celtic will enable New Balance to become synonymous with all that’s great about the Scottish game. We’re dedicated to producing innovative products that the players and fans can wear on the way to creating more cherished memories for this great club.”
