Rangers welcome back captain Lee McCulloch and goalkeeper Steve Simonsen from suspension for Friday's Scottish Championship trip to Raith Rovers.

The pair were suspended for last week's 2-0 home defeat by Hibernian, the former for stamping on an opponent and Simonsen for illegally betting on football matches.

But four of the five players recently signed from Newcastle on loan - Gael Bigirimana, Remie Streete, Shane Ferguson and Kevin Mbabu - remain unavailable through injury.

Keeper Cammy Bell (shoulder), defenders Bilel Mohsni (knee) and Richard Foster (hernia), winger David Templeton (thigh) and striker Kenny Miller (groin ) are also sidelined.

Raith manager Grant Murray confirmed that striker Calum Elliot faces another four weeks on the sidelines while Ross Laidlaw has had his loan at Elgin City extended by a further 93 days.

Midfielder Kevin Moon is expected to shake off a knock to feature at Stark's Park.

Rovers face Rangers for the second time in just under two weeks looking for a repeat of the performance which earned them a 2-1 Scottish Cup fifth-round victory at Ibrox.

And the meeting brings together two teams in contrasting form with Rovers unbeaten in seven games while their opponents have managed just four wins from their last 10 games, losing the other six.

The sequence has seen Kenny MacDowall’s side slip to third in the Championship table, while the Kirkcaldy club are now sixth, 11 points behind their opponents.
