Dundee United midfielder Chris Erskine admits Celtic were the last team he wanted to draw in the last eight of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

Despite recording a 2-1 victory over the Hoops at Tannadice in December, Erskine says he was looking for one of the lower league sides remaining in the hat when the draw was made at Hampden by world darts champioin Gary Anderson.

Speaking after being paired with the champions - which will see the sides clash three times in as many weeks in March - the former Partick Thistle star told Sky Sports News HQ: "It's the hardest draw we could have got, but I'm sure Celtic are thinking the same thing.

"Obviously there was only three Premiership teams left in the draw and we were all probably hoping to avoid each other. But that's the way things go.

"The fact we are at home is good for us. We beat them at Tannadice in December and I thought it was well deserved so hopefully we can do the same again."

Raith Rovers' reward for ending Rangers' interest in the competition was an away trip to Inverness, a match which midfielder Grant Anderson is looking forward to.

"Obviously it's a long distance away and Yogi (Inverness manager John Hughes) has got them playing a good style of football up there," he said. "So we have to go there prepared and confident and do the best we can."

Asked if the cup was now wide open, he said: "Definitely. Two Premiership teams playing each other means obviously at least one of the top teams is going to be knocked out at this stage.

"It's wide open and I have said it many times that if we can go on a run - and we are eight or nine unbeaten now - then you never know where that can take you."
