Dundee United defender Keith Watson has joined Hibernian on loan until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old, whose Tannadice contract expires in the summer, leaves United just days after former Hearts right-back Ryan McGowan joined the club.

Watson, who played more than 150 times for United, told Hibernian's website: "I'm really pleased to sign for Hibernian on loan - it's a great opportunity for me and I'm excited about the future.

"I know a few of the Hibs players - Scott Allan, Scott Robertson and Farid El Alagui - from my time at United and they've all spoken very highly of the manager and the set-up here.

"I've been really impressed with the progress that has been made so far this season and I'm looking forward to being a part of it.

"After experiencing a few setbacks with injuries over the years, I now want to kick on, play regularly and help the team to achieve promotion."

Callum Booth has swapped promotion-chasing Hibs in the Championship for Premiership Partick Thistle in a loan deal until the end of the season

Head coach Alan Stubbs said: "Keith will give us an option at both right-back and centre-half - bringing greater balance to the defence and ultimately strengthening the group."

Meanwhile, a Hibs defender moving out of Easter Road is Callum Booth, who has joined Partick Thistle on loan for the remainder of the season.

Booth, who has made 12 appearances for the Championship club this season, is out of contract in the summer when the deal may become permanent.

The 23-year-old, who has spent time on loan at Arbroath, Brechin City and Raith Rovers, has signed in time to make his debut for Thistle against St Mirren at Firhill on Friday.
