Kilmarnock manager Allan Johnston was really pleased with his side despite their concession of a late equaliser at home to Partick Thistle.

Having fallen behind in the second minute, Killie fought back and went 2-1 up when Manuel Pascali scored in the 79th minute, only for Frederic Frans to level five minutes later.

Johnston said: “I thought it was a really good team performance. There was a lot of energy about the team, and it was a very young team as well.

“I thought we looked a lot more of a goal threat today, so that was really encouraging.

"We're disappointed. When you go into the lead with 10 minutes to go or whatever, it's frustrating to lose a goal from a free-kick.

"But, as I said, there were a lot of positives, and I thought the boys gave everything today. We passed the ball well, we looked more of a goal threat and there were a lot of good individual performances as well."

Josh Magennis scored Kilmarnock’s opening goal after great work from Rory McKenzie and Johnston was pleased with both players.

“Rory McKenzie, I thought he was everywhere and caused them a lot of problems,” said the manager.

“And Josh Magennis was back to the striker that he was at the start of the season. We're going to need that kind of performance between now and the end of the season."

Partick boss Alan Archibald was pleased with the way his side hit back after falling 2-1 behind.

"Great fightback from us, I'm delighted with the fightback to get the goal,” he said.

"I think it's a good point after the way we fought back, I'm delighted with the character the lads showed."

Archibald was asked if the 5-0 midweek thrashing of Hamilton may have taken its toll on his players.

"I don't know,” he said. “I think Kilmarnock only had two games, we had the three, but I don't really know.

“I think it's an easy excuse at times, and in the first 20 minutes we created a lot of good chances. You've got to take them."
